Leadership Kansas Class Visits Colby and Goodland July 29-31

TOPEKA, KAN. (July 28, 2009) – The Colby/Goodland area will host the 2009 Leadership Kansas class on July 29-31.  The 40 members of the class will begin their training session with a dinner and presentation by Marcie Penner, the author of The Kansas Guide for Explorers, in Colby on Wednesday evening.

The session will continue in Colby on Thursday with a tour of Frahm Farmland, Inc., which will include presentations on agriculture and water conservation in Kansas.  The class will travel to Goodland to visit the Colby/Goodland Regional Medical Center for presentations on pioneering cancer treatment and rural healthcare.  The class will also attend a presentation on meteorology at Weather Service, and the Prairie Museum of Art and History.

Over the course of the six-month regional meetings, the class will engage in discussions with top experts on the key issues facing Kansas.  While in the Colby/Goodland area, many topics will be covered, including: agriculture, health care, local government, natural resources, art, and community investment.

The Colby/Goodland area is the third of six communities to host the 2009 Leadership Kansas class.  Other locations include Garden City, the Kansas City Metro area, the Wichita Metro area, Pittsburg/Chanute and Lawrence/Topeka.
